Here are some mindfulness practice opportunities in the region and beyond.
Twin Cities Vipassana Collective offers extended retreats with live, experienced teachers!
Common Ground Meditation Center is a great resource for mindfulness meditation practice in the Twin Cities.
First Lutheran Church, Bemidji has an authentic 11 circuit Labyrinth! This ancient form of walking meditation is available to the public each Friday from noon to 2pm, and on the second Thursday of each month, from 5-7pm, and the second Friday of the month from 12-2pm. If you’re interested in the history and other information about the Labyrinth, read Walking a Sacred Path by Lauren Artress. First Lutheran Church is located at 900 Bemidji Avenue North Bemidji, MN 56601 (218) 444-5302 For a map, click here
Mindfulness Sitting Group has been popular for the past five years. This is open to anyone who already has a meditation or contemplative practice (there is no instruction in these groups). There is no charge and any voluntary donations of money are passed on to the Bemidji Food Shelf.
The sitting group meets Wednesday evenings from 5:30-6:30pm. in the First Lutheran Church Chapel. Chairs are provided. If you prefer to sit on the floor, bring a cushion. We usually gather from 5:30-5:40, sit from 5:40 to 6:10, and spend the remaining time in peer to peer learning through discussion of practice experience. The group makes space in our busy lives for silent practice, and connects us with others who meditate.
