Summer MBSR for Teachers!

SummerSkySwamp

Here in the midwest, summer is dynamic. There is a brief, and intense greening and a growing season, that can be stunnigly beautiful, and hard to keep up with!  For many  teachers, there is a break from the classroom, a chance to be who you are, outside the structure of school.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an 8 week, evidence-based course that, for 35 years, has offered training in the skills that are needed to slow down, pay attention, and be your best self.  Stress is reduced, and everyday functioning is improved. The course has benefitted hundreds of people in the Bemidji area over the past 12 years, and many thousands worldwide.  MBSR teaches  focused attention, moment to moment presence, compassion, and gentle persistence through various meditation approaches.  As these skills are acquired, they become resources that are available anywhere in your life,  including work!

Summer MBSR is offered for teachers, or others who can’t spare the time during the school year to take the class.  Education-related research and resources are offered along with the with the regular curriculum.

A limited number of partial scholarships are offered to area teachers through Peacemaker Resources .

Summer can be a good time for parents, college students, or interested high school graduates to prepare for “what comes next” as life unfolds.  Any adult, young or old, can benefit from this class!
